About Empathy Express

If you're struggling with mental health challenges, you've probably heard phrases like:

"I wonder if counselling would help."

"Have you considered talking to someone?"

"There are resources out there."

You've probably also realized - mental health help is not always convenient. That's why I provide mobile mental health counselling in Cornwall, ON and the surrounding area, as well as virtual counselling for all of Ontario. You book a session, you choose the space, and you get counselling on your terms, in your own home or online.

What I Offer

Through Empathy Express, I provide general mental health counselling for issues such as:

- Depression and anxiety

- Anger and other strong emotions

- Grief and loss

- Self-esteem and confidence

I also recognize that while some mental illness is unexplained, resulting from chemical imbalances in the brain, there are other times when mental distress is situational, resulting from real life problems that clients need help talking through and brainstorming solutions for. These issues may include relationship difficulties or divorce, legal troubles, job loss, or other circumstances.

I provide 100% judgement free counselling.

No matter what is going on in your life, I am on your team.

Boundaries of Competence

I have professional experience working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, anger, and grief. I have personal experience with "men's issues", but I serve people of all genders. My counselling service is a safe, inclusive space for people from all walks of life, regardless of gender identity, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other trait that makes people unique.

While I hold a master's degree in counselling psychology, I do not practice "psychotherapy", which is a controlled act only performed by those with a specific license. I practice general mental health counselling, providing tools, guidance and structure to facilitate positive change.

I offer couples counselling for working through common issues. Likewise, I offer support for mild substance use issues that coexist with other struggles, but I do not provide specific, directed treatment for substance use issues. I can, however, provide resources to help.

I am comfortable discussing suicidal ideation and making safety plans, but as with all counsellors, I am obligated to call for help when a client is in clear or imminent danger of self harm.

In a crisis or emergency, please call 9-1-1.
