Service - How it Works

Empathy Express offers two convenient service options: Home Visit, and Virtual. For both options, appointments are scheduled at your convenience, including evening and weekend availability. You can schedule recurring appointments at an interval of your choosing, or simply book one-time or sporadic appointments when needed. 

A Home Visit service is a regular mental health counselling appointment, for which the counsellor comes to your home. This offers several benefits, including:

- Greater comfort in discussing distressing issues in a familiar environment

- No accessibility or mobility barriers

- No need to arrange transportation or parking

- Flat fee for service regardless of where in the service area you're located

To prepare for a Home Visit appointment, please consider the following:

- Decide in advance on a space in your home for the appointment, and set it up to your liking (please be mindful of privacy if others will be home)

- Don't worry about cleanliness - all homes have some degree of mess - but the space should be safe

- Counsellor Brandon loves dogs, cats, and all other pets, but you know your pet and their tolerance to visitors better than anyone else, so please plan accordingly

- You reserve the right to end an appointment at any time, in which case Brandon will leave immediately

VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS OFFERED FOR ALL ONTARIO RESIDENTS

A Virtual appointment offers all the benefits of a Home Visit, with the added benefit of being able to log in from anywhere, meaning that we can assist you no matter where in Ontario you're located. A Virtual appointment takes place via Google Meet, a platform that supports video calls. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in a private location, to ensure confidentiality, safety, and comfort. 

INTAKE AND INFORMED CONSENT

Ready to book a session? You can fill out the Intake Form here and you will receive a link to the Informed Consent form to sign digitally. The Intake Form is your opportunity to provide as much initial information as you are comfortable sharing initially. The Informed Consent Form outlines your rights and responsibilities as a counselling client, and also provides some information about counselling. 

PAYMENT TERMS

Payment is due at the end of each session. For Home Visit appointments, Interac Debit as well as Visa and Mastercard are accepted via a Square point of sale terminal that connects to a mobile app. Alternatively, cash and Interac E-Transfer are accepted. For Virtual appointments, Interac E-Transfer is accepted, or you can be emailed a link to pay online by credit card.
